The ancient royal burgh of Dornoch
is located in the county of Sutherland.
How to get there: The A9 is part of the London - Edinburgh - Thurso trunk road. It bypasses Dornoch by about 1 mile. Inverness airport provides links to the South and to the rest of the Highlands and Islands. The nearest railway stations are Tain and Ardgay. Trains run north to Wick and Thurso and south to Inverness. Buses are frequent on the A9 northbound and southbound. |

approximately 1 mile from the junction with the A9 The countryside around the Dornoch firth is beautiful. Much of it is in a designated national scenic area.
